Osmania Medical College, established in 1846, is one of the leading medical schools in India. The Gastroenterology fellowship program here is a high-volume center with a significant number of procedures performed annually. The college oversees more than 5,000 in-patients and is well-equipped with a dedicated Liver Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Procedures Performed Annually:

• 7,000-8,000 Upper GI endoscopies

• 1,000-1,200 Colonoscopies

• 360-380 ERCP procedures

Diagnostic Endoscopy Procedures

• Performed and reported over 2,000 diagnostic Upper GI endoscopies

Therapeutic Endoscopy Procedures

• Performed esophageal stricture bougie dilatation in 80 patients across 180 sessions

• Conducted 5 percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube placements and 5 achalasia cardia balloon dilations

• Assisted in 8 pancreatic pseudocyst drainages and 10 polypectomy procedures

ERCP and Other Procedures

• Assisted in over 100 ERCPs for various conditions like choledocholithiasis, biliary pancreatitis, carcinoma of the pancreas, and more

• Performed 50+ liver biopsies

• Performed 35 ultrasound-guided liver abscess drainages (25 pig-tail placements)

• Conducted 25 ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of the liver
